What rankitanki is, how we write and how you can use it at home or in class.
rankitanki is a free knowledge website for children aged about 6 to 11. It answers the questions children ask every day, in short, clear English, with a friendly dialogue between two characters, Ranki and Tanki.
How we write
- Easy English. Short sentences (around 8 to 12 words), common words and a short explanation for every hard word. Hard words are underlined with dots and explained when you tap them.
- A quick answer first. Every page starts with the answer in two or three sentences, then explains it step by step.
- Checked facts. Numbers, dates and records are checked against reliable sources such as NASA, ESA, museums, health services and encyclopaedias. Where science is not sure, we say so.
- Safe activities. Every “Try it” activity uses everyday things. Activities that need a grown-up are clearly marked.
- Kind about feelings. Our feelings pages are reassuring and always encourage children to talk to a grown-up they trust. They do not replace professional advice.
Made for reading on your own and together
Each article has a reading age (6+ or 8+), a reading time, a “Read it to me” button that uses the voices on your own device, and a “Bigger text” button. At the end there is a quick quiz with three questions and a short note for parents and teachers with a talking point.

Privacy and safety
There is no sign-up, no chat, no comments and no personal data from children. rankitanki sets no cookies. Quiz stars and the text size are saved only in the browser on your device. The articles carry no adverts and no links to shops. Details are in our privacy information.

Ranki and Tanki are fictional characters. Their pictures and the illustrations on this website were made with AI image tools and carry an “AI generated” badge. The texts are written and checked by the rankitanki editorial team.
